The announcement made directly on the opening day of the North American International auto show  or better known as the Detroit Motor Show, Monday (01/09/2012).

For this, the Elantra have to beat two The greatest rivals, the Ford Focus and Volkswagen Passat is a finalist in the best cars in North America. While Evoque managed to put the BMW X3 and Honda CR-V for the category of best trucks in north america. In U.S., SUV, pickup, double cab classified as a truck.

This year is the second time Hyundai was awarded the same. Before captured by Genesis in 2009. Meanwhile, Land Rover and Range Rover Evoque from England premiere brand that debuted in the United States.

This award is an annual agenda organized by journalists in the United States and Canada. Total of 50 automotive journalists from magazines, newspapers, portals, television until the radio is involved in the judging.

Winners were selected based on several factors, among others, innovation, design, security level, “handling”, driver satisfaction and “value for money”. Last year, General Motors with its flagship Chevrolet Volt won the best car and best achieved by the Ford Explorer SUV.
